I recently bought a Case Model 200 square baler. My friend operating the baler drug the pickup fingers on a hump in the ground and the drive chain broke. It looks like that large-linked chain used on planters and other implements. Can anybody tell me where to find this chain or a master link so I can repair it and finish baling? Thanks for any advice.

Roller or flat link? Any supply store or ag dealer can get it for you. Central Tractor has it, Shoup can has it. You can also try www.sloanex.com

It is a flat-link chain, but I am unfamiliar with the numbering of the types of chain. Can anyone tell me the measurements/ distinguishing characteristics of the different types? All I really need is a repair link - the chain is OK. Thanks for your help.

When dealing with flat, detachable ink chain, every link can be detached from the next one (hence the name), there are no repair links. Most Ag equip. dealers will have some on hand. Take the chain with you to be sure of a size match, or carefully measure the width, pitch & link sidebar width.

Most of the time a number is stamped on the link.

And yes there are repair links, altho you normally hammer the links apart from each other. But elevators often have a link with a pin to attach & detatch under tight conditions.

A lot of detachable link chain has the size stamped in. Looked at my NI corn picker, and it has "55" stamped on every piece on one of the chains. Didn't look on any other equipment, but I'm sure I saw "62" stamped on my Zimmerman elevator chains sometime in the past.
