Bought a 5800 that has twine tube for electric control (actuator missing). I know how the manual type works, but can anyone tell me how the electric kind cuts the string? The cutters are in a vee configuration, but they don't move like the manual kind. Can I rig get this kind to work like a manual(pull rope) or will I have to replace the whole string assembly, or replace the actuator(are they reliable?)
Please don't give me a hard time, I got it worth the money (cheap).

I recently bought a 5580 Hesston with the actuator missing also. I replaced it with a hydraulic cylinder off the tail gate of a spreader that had about the same stroke. Cutter and twine tubes work perfectly, and now are positioned manually instead of having to rely on the automatic electric feature. E-mail for more info. Tom
