I've hayed for 2 seasons now with a 480 that I bought for $150 and put another $300 into (including new tires) to fix it up, and it has done a good job for me. The one weak point I can think of is a coupler in the PTO shaft which will grind itself out if your rolls get stuck - this happened to me. I was able to find the upgrade part Deere came out with - which replaced this coupler with a sheer bolt assembly - from a junked out 480 at Stamm Equipment. Just go fairly slow and you'll be OK - it is still a big step up from a sickle bar mower. I pull it behind an Oliver 1600, but I am sure that my Ford Jubilee could run it if it had remote hydraulics.

I have not had any experience with them but have bought some of that so called junk and get a lot of use out of some two hundred dollar equipment. HOpe it works well for you I think there is a good chance you will get your moneys worth.
