Help! The deck on my bush hog is rusted out and I'm going to replace it. Everything else is in pretty good shape. The problem i've run into is trying to remove the blade-holder off of the splined/tapered shaft coming off the gear-box. I was able to remove the nut and lockwasher and then put the nut back on flush with the end of the shaft. I had sprayed penetrating oil on it for several days prior to this. I've placed a block of wood on the shaft and beat the hound out of it with a sledge hammer. No luck. I tried heating the blade-holder and then hitting it. No luck. I need any advice/tips I can get. Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem with mine and the only way that I cfound to get it off is by either beating it with a hammer or prying it with a crowbar.

Pete, i cut a piece of 1/4 inch plate about 4 inches wide and welded a piece of angle iron on one side to give it strength. cut holes to match the bolt holes for the blades. Unscrew the center bolt until the bolt is on the end of the nut.I used a couple of big bolts and nuts, through the holes for the blades to the plate and tightened the bolts until the stump jumper came off. Hope this helps. give me an e-mail if this is not too clear...EC
