Is a 7 foot trailer type rotary mower too much for a good running John Deere 50?

It kind of depends on what you intend to cut with it.. In average pasture clipping, and moderately high frass it would be fine..as long as it isent too heavy for the drawbar ( or 3-point)... Some are much heavier than others.. For cutting saplings, and high Brush, you may have all you can handle..!!! In average pasture, I would think you could use somewhere around 4th gear....

Ron, thanks for your opinion. My mower is a woods drawbar type and I intend to cut pasture and hay.
