I have posted a couple of queries on this topic on the tool talk discussion. Thought I would post it here also. Was wondering if anyone has been successfull in making a homebuilt 3pt logging winch (rear pto or hydraulic).

I have recently found a magnetic clutch from a front pto for a ford 1000 series (i think) I am wondering if this will provide enough torque if I use it in a winch application.

Thanks

Kim

I have built a few winches for logging with a farmall cub, I know its small but I selectively log for freinds. Im a welder and machinist by trade and have a hobby of fabrication. On the cub I use a lawn mower trans mission off the belt drive pto. I built a winch drum and sheaves. To cluch it i use a belt off a junk combine and homebuilt Idler arm. Have you tried finding a a pto winch off an old stick paperwood truck?

They are getting cheap here and are easy to adapt to. Very powerful as well. The electric clutdh sounds heavy enough.
