Does anyone have any experience with Knight Slinger side discharge manure spreaders? The design appears impressive but do they work as good as the website says? Were there alot of improvements through the years? Anything particular to look for when buying a used one?

i would recomendt a Knight over any other spreader out there. at our dealership, we hardly sell any thing else. as far as what to look for, look for the usual rust and the auger flightings, and the gearings and drive chains. one thing that the new Knights have is a grease zerk on the chain tensioner pivoit shaft.

but in all, i think that a knight spreader is well worth it.

I had a single axle model 712 for a number of years, spread all the manure wet and dry from 800 pigs. I did not spend dime one on it. I would recommend Knight spereaders to anyone, anywhere. For durability and simplicity, they were so far ahead of the three NH spreaders I had had beofre that, it was just about amazing. I bought a Knight because years before that, I worked on a large farm where they had two Knight tandems, overloaded them with a Payloader from packed feedlot manure, and they just did not break.
Good Luck

Don't know much about the Knights. The Gehl scavenger is Gehl's side slinger unit. newer models work pretty well, pretty reliable, Gehl spends alot of time and $ testing products before production. The NewHolland side slinger unit is made by Gehl as well. (the Gehl box spreaders are made by NewHolland)

The Gehl's are the old Martin design. They are OK, but Knight is head and shoulders better.
