Hooking up Implements

I put an aftermarket 3pt hitch on my Allis Model B. I have a plow and ripper bar that have the same 3 pt hook up dimensions. The problem I have is if I tighten the bolts on the hitch, the two lower arms are not wide enough to attach the implement. The distance between the two bottom pins are approx 32 inches. When the hitch bolts are tightened the max distance is approx 25 inches.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks!

Never having seen an aftermarket hitch for an Allis, I'm shooting in the dark here, but a couple of ideas occur to me.

1. The end of the lower link that mounts to the tractor should be on a ball swivel, just like the end that the implements mount to. On my JD, the arms will go from about 16" apart to about 36".

2. If you have sway chains to limit swing, make sure they are adjusted properly. You may need to loosen them up a bit to allow the arms to spread far enough.

3. If you do have ball swivels on both ends of the arms, make sure you don't have the arms reversed or swapped side for side. Mine have an offset bend in the middle and getting them on backwards is possible, and would severely limit their swing.

Hope this gives you some ideas.
