Hey all, I have hunted thru the archives and can find nothing on the 460 sickle drive. I have been trying to mow hay with my 460 for 2 days and I keep burning up my rubber bushing in the sickle bar end. The arm that drives the sickle was worn out so I had a welding shop weld a bushing back in for the bolt that goes thru the sickle bar. It looks square but when the sickle is all the way out it doesn't. The sickle bar is a little bent when I pull it out to replace the bushing so when it is in place it is a little below the arm until I tighten the bolt thru the whole system. Should I try and straighten the bar before I put it back in this time? Moose

The 460 was New Holland's first haybine. The bushing in the knife is the same one used in the 451 sickle bar mower. It was barely heavy enough. I say this to let you know that everything has to be in really good condition or you will burn that bushing out. Whatever it takes to align things, go ahead and do it. Also, make SURE your guards are reanonably straight and the cutting edges are not rounded off and dull. The easier the machine cuts, the less stress on the pitman area. Steve
