Anyone ever heard of a MF 41 sickle bar? When were they made, how well did they work, how easy did they fit on a 3 pt hitch, are parts and manuals available, what is a good price for a 7' version. Could you trail and drive a crimper behind one?

Thanks in advance,
Bill

I agree they were a good mower but dont catch the end gaurd on a stump will turning not a good thing. Also added a hyd cyl to pick up bar helped in tall grass, made it eaiser to clean bar. Ate just about anything we ran into it

I don't remember the model number, but the MF dyna-balance mower was hard to beat. Dad bought one new around 1972 or 1973. I regularly used it and also a Ford with a pitman arm (maybe it was a 501?), no comparison between them, and the MF was much easier to hook up.
I remember seeing the option to stub a pto shaft off of the large pulley, and there was some sort of hitch that attached so you could pull a conditioner behind it, but I never saw it in use.

The model 41 Massey Ferguson mower was made by Vermeer, for Massey. It was a belt drive "Dyna-Balance" mower. I'm thinking they were built in the mid 70's through the 80's. I have owned a couple of 'em. GOOD MOWERS! Mine didn't have the crimper/conditioner hitch and PTO, but I seem to recall that being an option. Most parts are still available from Massey Ferguson (AGCO) The parts are however, getting to be extinct. John

I have an MF 32 sickle bar mower, which I believe is similar to the 41. Mine has a pitman, I'm not sure if the 41 or 42 is the one with the pitman - the other would use a belt drive, which is superior. I think that the 3 point frame is the same as mine, though. My 32 is a very good mower, and attaches to my tractor (a Ford NAA) very easily, in 5 minutes or less. The only extra hardware it needs is 1 stabilizer bar. It is MUCH easier to put on than a Ford 501 (I borrowed one of those once - never again ...).
