Mornin',

I was nosin' around yesterday and found an original, nice little 12' IH 370 Disc with furrow fillers and in overall pretty good shape.

The ridge breaker is broken off at the shank and it probably needs the wheel bearings repacked.

Anybody want to venture a guess as to what it is worth? Seems to me that they sold for around $700 to $900 when new?

Allan

I just picked up a model 350 a few weeks ago. It"s 8"-6". That size actually sells a bit higher around here, do to the ease of moving it on a road. 10 or 12" ones still sell OK here. Theres about as many "small" sizes, (12" and under) used as bigger ones anymore. Most everyone doing corn/soybeans is no-tilling in these parts. Anyway...The 8 1/2 footers sell from $500 (junk) to average of $850, and as high as $1000 10" and 12" sell at about the same price range. You"ll see junk for $300 to $400...Average at about $800, and every now and then, a good one will bring $1200. All depends on the sale and the seller. I paid $500 for the #350 8-1/2 footer. (Taking offers, highest so far $850) Another factor in Good price/bad price issue. Did that price include a (good) hydraulic cylinder? If not, add $100 to $300 buck for cylinder and lines. John

Also,

I noticed that the large cross bolt at the hitch is showing a bit of wear, but that should be an easy fix.

Always liked this little disc.

Mornin' John,

No, it doesn't have a cylinder and they've got it tied up with a small chuck of chain back where the rear of the cylinder mounts.

Seems the transport lock went kaput somewhere along the line as it has a bit of welding in this area.

Thanks for getting me in the ballpark.

Allan

I"ve seen more damege to a disc via "road damage" than field damage. Someone probably "locked" the disc in the up position, hooked it to the pick-em-up, and went down the road at 55MPH. They aren"t made for the stress of high-speed "impact". Just an average chuckhole will do the trick. Beware of LOTS of welding. I"ve got one at the house now, that I"m trying to repair for someone. It"s been welded on quite a bit. It won"t track straight behind the tractor, and the left rear digs deeper than the right no matter what you do. Just like with buying anything, good ones come along every now and then. I just pass on "average" on down. John

John,

What size of blades did these things have on 'em originally?

Been so long ago that my ole pee brain can't remember.

Brain isn"t fully awake yet..... .I"m thinking 20" (?) The IH #350 I found has the original IH disc blades, all the scrapers, not a weld on it, good tires, and a (almost) new cylinder. I"m a John Deere fanatic, but like IH disc"s of that era. It"s got a built in wieght bracket that allows me to hang enough wieght to get it 125 lbs. per blade. That baby"ll dig deep. John
