Just curious what one might ask for a working New Idea #7 one-row corn picker. I'm kind of interested in what it might bring in the eastern ohio / western pennsylvania small farm areas, where they actually still use these things.

Where are you located. I am in NW IA. Have toyed with the idea of owning a 1 row picker.

I sold one a couple of years ago at auction, brought $35 in working condition. Sold a better one the year before for $300 private sale.

#7 isn't worth much in reply to markbo, 10-12-2004 14:08:49
Only New Idea 1-row that"s worth anything is a 323, $1000+ for a nice one. 310 might get $500-700. #10 might get $100-150, #7 usually $10-$50.

Please educate me. Why is a #7 not worth very much? I have looked around for a corn picker and seems they are asking $750+ in Indiana(at least the ones I've seen).... I would give $50 in a minute if it worked or needed just minor repair...

A #7 dates from the late 40s early 50s. Can"t handle corn past 100 bu. per acre very well. Snapper roll design can cause over 10% field shelling losses. Parts are not available. There are lots of 323 and 310 pickers around in this area, which makes the #10 and #7 very cheap. If there is a demand for pickers in Indiana and there are none around, that explains the prices.

I know of 3 of them in Western, Pa. that you can get for $50 each. They all work well. A 323 will bring $1500 for a good one here.
