Mornin' All,

If I could find one of these 500s in a 6 row version, I'd be one happy camper. :>)

Alan,
Here is a link to an auction in Colorado on Saturday. There is a 500 there. How far east are you in Nebraska?

Sorry about the link. I thought I put it in the Link URL field. Try this cut and paste if it does not show up.

Allen in Ill; Why do you want to stay with this series. Go to the 800 series and you will really like it if you liked the 500. 6 row units are cheap in my area as they are just outdated. 16rows are the fad 24 are coming in strong.

Hi Rick,

Doesn't matter to me; I just don't know anything about the 800s is all. :>)

What was so great about them over the 500?

Allan

Allen in Neb; Totally different openers, much better deph control. The drum is located in the front of the unit. Can see if it is running smooth or jerking. I just feel it was a big improvement. I still have a very nice 12row 900 series needing to sell if you know anyone looking. It is the horizontal rear fold unit. I loved it just don't need as quit that part of operation. Happy Holidays to you RickL ps As of last month I have a 6 row machine still needing to get rid of. It nice clean unit.

Allan, If this ol girl is a clean as she looks just cut it down. chop off the frame to a 6row format. Better yet...just leave the frame alone, and drop off the two outside row units! You don't even have top change out the manifold assembly,. Just duct tapt off the two outside rows and there you are a 6 row planter. It always leaves the opition open to go 8 row!
Just a thought.
Later,
John A.

Mornin' John,

Yes, I've thought of that. I know where there is one setting in the weeds that has be robbed over the years. Might be able to combine the two.

Markers are the main problem and of course, a guy would probably have to change out the shoes.

Allan
