If this is a picture taken at Rolog Mn last year the plows are JD it is a reinactment of the 50 plow that Oil Pull did in the early 1900's and yes it was very dry and a poor job of plowing but thy did it just because.

Hi CK,

I agree, it is way, way cool.

But what tickled me was, that out of all those people milling about, watching, looking on and running the machinery, not a single one of 'em is paying one lick of attention to that Gawd awful job of plowing they are doing.

Must be a dry land thing; more bottoms & less depth. :>)

Allan

That is a 50 bottom plow that they take to steam shows. I saw it at Wauseaun, Ohio a couple years ago. I did not get to see it operate cause something broke on it. They used it with 2 steam tractors. Looks like 3 tractors hooked to it in this photo.

Not the most efficient operation I've ever seen, but it did give those guys something to do.
Maybe we could have a caption contest? The winner would have the dubious honor of replacing one of the handle pullers.

Efficient?
3 OilPulls or 2 Steamers pulling 50 bottoms during an era when you would commonly see 1 man coaxing 1 team of old mules to pull 1 bottom thru the ground. They would take more time moving from field to field than it was to turn the fields. And for your contest- 3 OilPulls immitating a Deere 9620T.

Don't know if it really matters, but they are John Deere plows. Steve
