I aquired this mower (steel wheels, pull type, 5-6 foot mower, it says "regular gear" on it) from a family auction. It is missing some pieces. It is worth fixing? Are there parts available? Any manuals? Do you have any general info about this...year, value etc? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The No.9 mower was the last horse drawn mower. Productiuon ran from 1939 to 1951. As with the No 7 mower the No.9 had totally enclosed gears running in an oil bath. The No. 9 was available in 4-1/2.5 , 6, and 7-foot models. Optional features included 2-1/2 or 3 -nch guard spacing, windrow attachments, reaping attachments, and pneumatic tires. The No. 7 mower was available with a special tractor hitch that would allow up to 5 mowers to be attached in a trailing offset fashion. This would allow as much as a 35 foot cut.

You may have a McCormrick No 9 horse drawn mower.
These were the last horse drawn mowers made by international.

It says

"IHC No. 9" "REGULAR GEAR"

Wouldn't 'IHC' be International Harvestor?
Or am I just clueless!

McCormick Deering was a part of International Harvester!
I bet it is a ground drive machine.

Yea, I found out some more info...enclosed gear McCormick No. 9 mower...think I found some manuals. Don't know if parts are available from the dealer yet. Any idea when produced? Is there a difference between horse drawn or tractor pull models?

Late 40's early 50's. Tractor pulled would have short tonuge. Also uses automotive type bearings instead of bushings.
