Anybody know the settings for a Herd Seeder for fescue and timothy? I've lost my chart and the decals have long been fallen off the seeder.
Thanks for any info.
Jerry

You've got a problem. The settings are different for different models of Herd seeders. So if you don't know what model it is, tracking down the right setting is going to be hard to do. The decal on my M-96 has settings for several other models, so if you have even a vague idea what you've got, I might be able to help.

Thanks Tim I think it's a 750. I looked at a Herd manual today it didn't have any settings in it, but ours looks like the 750.

My chart confirms this. However, I can't find a listing for timothy. I've done it with the M-96, but it only spreads about 10' patterns, and the lowest rate I've been able to get before the gate starts plugging up is 15 lbs at a 1/4" opening, 6 mph. Of course, that's an estimate. A 750 would probably give similar results. One thing I've noticed when spreading timothy is you can't see it coming out! Check your hopper level every couple of rounds to see if you're getting the right rate. I try to put timothy on with my drill's grass seeder box whenever possible, for accuracy.

Thanks Tim- I never thought about the timothy problem. This is my 1st time to have to plant it.
I will broadcast the other seed and drill the timothy in. I always run back over with a roller anyhow.
