I am considering buying a Oliver 6 row 3 pt. planter. It is a toolbar planter currently set at 20" rows it looks like. I am not sure of the age but it is green/red with fiberglass boxes. However the owner does not have any plates for it. Does anybody know what plates fit this planter and where I might find some? Will White or any other brand fit? Also, how good of a planter where they? Thanks!

Myself I need a few other details. I think just by guessing that you are talking about a model 343. If so they take the same plates as a John Deere. The pull type version of this was the 543. They were a good planter. I might have information on your planter left but I need more information. Where are you located? The only mounted ones around here a dealer south of here sold some 12 row units.

I am located in OH. Corn and soybeans are the only row crops here. Maybe it orginally came from the south? The rows are of course adjustable, and the only thing that would be planted at it's current 20" rows is soybeans. I can't find a model number on it anywhere. The owner bought it at an auction several years back and never used it, probaly because he didn't have any plates. It does have row markers that operate on a cable-like system. Being on a toolbar, it is driven by each press wheel, which are rubber(not steel) so I am guessing it was made sometime in the 60s. P.S. when was the last Oliver planter built? Thanks.

I am in Ohio also, northwestern part. See if you can find me on the Oliver form: wwwhartparroliver.org I worked for a dealer and what do you mean by the last Oliver planter? Do you refer to model or green paint. Where are you in Ohio?

I am in the central part of the state, east of Columbus. Didn't White own Oliver and start re-badging Oliver machinery like planters in mid 70s when the tractors became White's? I guess the last one made in green paint only as an Oliver. Thanks again.

Actually White Motors purchased Oliver in 1960. I was sitting in the Oliver branch when the anouncement was made. I am in northwest part of state. 5400 planters were green at first and then red. I need to think about the 543 and the mounted units.
