I need new bottom belts for an old 510 Deere. Is there an aftermarket place that deals in these so I won't have to get screwed at the dealer?

Also, has anyone ever spliced these belts? I know there's a lot of pressure on them when the bales is being formed....
but it sure would be easier to fix without taking the rollers and pickup out.

Thanks,

Shoup has all kinds of baler belts - I run a different color so don't know what they carry for you, but would be worth a look. They are online, but the print catalog is much better than the online version.

(PS: Looks like they have an 8" endless for $80 if that is what you need?)

They could be tough to splice. Where are you located? I can check to see whats available aftermarket if you would like me to. E-mail is open....Jim

my old IH 241 has a spliced bottom belt - old style splice - but it came that way - don't know who did it or where it came from

I've never seen a splice tool made for a belt as wide as one in bottom of 510.You would have to do several tries for one belt.It may be difficult to get space between each correct. If I were going to attempt splicing lower belt I would use newer type splice.IMHO the newer splice is far superior to the old splice.Jim

Thanks for all the insights fellers. They are available from JD for $120 a piece. Shoup has them for $80. I'll probably just buy them and save myself the headache.
