I have almost bought a New Holland Super 66 square baler. I know very little about this particular machine, but after my pervious endeavors with a Massey Ferguson 10, almost ANYTHING will suffice...

Just wanting a little general information on the Super 66 before I buy one...

Thanks

I had two MF10s before giving up and buying a NH 66. There is no comparison...my old 66 was considered worn out when I got it while one of the MFs was hardly worn in, yet the NH 66 outbales them hands down.

Most big farmers consider them too slow, but mine works just fine for my little operation--I hay about 8-10 acres total. So far I don't see what the bad-mouthing that some do on the wadboard is all about, it is a simple system that works. Knotters are virtually identical to the current modern ones, and most parts are still available new from NH although some are expensive.

Both of the previous posts mention a wadboard. Not knowing the Super 66 too well, what is the wadboard? I assume it is part of the feeding system...

It is part of the feeding system, it is a wooden board that runs in a slot behind the auger, timed so it doesn't hit the plunger. It helps the auger feed by taking "bites" of hay as the hay feeds down the auger and placing them firmly in front of the plunger just as the plunger moves in for the compression stroke.

I had one for over 40 years. It baled many thousand bales of hay and straw. It would miss tie about 1% of straw but tie real good on coarse alfalfa. I did not like the wood wad board and wood slides on the plunger. The last baler I owned was a JD 336. Now that is what I call a real baler.
