Hi Fellas,

Will you double check me here?

18" plow with the tug-point between the 1st and 2nd bottoms. Tires are 18.4 X 38.

Allowing for tire 'squash', I figger 'bout a 76" center to center stance. Am I thinking right?

Thanks,

Allan

Allen, the way to measure will be different for your plow than the ones they are thinking of, the rollover will take a different way of measuring than the standard throw to the right plow and on a three point hitch is different than a pull type, you need that manual to see what it says

Allan: Kind of depends on how many bottoms .

Hi Hugh,

What has the number of bottoms got to do with anything? Don"t get it, I guess. :>(

All I"d be worried about is the center of pull out to the inner sidewall of that furrow tire, right?

It is a 4-18 tho.

Allan: The center line of draft quite different on 3 bottoms versus 4 bottoms. 5 is quite different again. I would say your 76" figure just about right for the plow, so our difference of opinion must be some geographical terminology thing.

Dunno on measuring your plow (not a moldboard guy) but while you're contemplating it take a peek at my hay calculations.....er ah big miscalculation.

For years I had thought you could get like 30 squares to a big roll. Guess that's textbook math for you. You need to see what the real world is doing I guess. Grin.

I bought a set of Ford 151 4-16's from my local AGCO dealer. He told me to have the rear tires set out 82" from center to center or 41" to the center of the tractor from the center of the tire. I recently bought a set of 5-18's and they seemed to work well at that setting as well.

LOL!

I'm to small square bales as you are to the plow. I just will not go there. :>)
