I have been looking for a decent Deere 7000 6-Row planter for a while. I found several coming up at an auction in 3 weeks-about 130 miles away.

If I took off the drive chains how much risk/strain would I be putting on the bearings to tow one home behind the pickup? Would 25mph be too fast?

My fear is having wheel bearings go out 1/2 way between home and auction.

Other option would be to remove tongue and put on my flatbed, but I worry about damaging it getting it loaded at the auction or unloading at home-have had a bad experience with doing that with a grain drill before.

I bought a 6-30 a couple of years ago, over 100 miles from home.Hauled it home on the machine trailer. Take four wide oak planks along, set the trailer in the road ditch, and back the planter on. Four bolts remove the tongue, and you can buzz down the road without creating a nuisance.
