identify my disk

I have a 6’ hard land" (offset) disk that has several broken blades. It has 9 blades in each section. I finally figured how to get the approximately 5 1/2" cast iron hex nut off of the center mounting pipe to reveal the type of disk center it has. The discs are about 22" across the concave side and have a center hole that is hex shaped (six sided) with a measurement of 3 7/16" from flat to flat. That's right "three and seven sixteenths inches" across the center from flat to flat. I have had no luck finding replacements for the 6 or so that I need and cannot even discover what brand of disk that I own. Any help identifying this implement and a possible source for the replacements would be appreciated.

For a last resort I would buy some average 22" disc and have somebody use a plasma cutter to cut the holes. Acetylene will put out too much heat and lose the temper while a plasma cutter only puts the heat where you need it.

Can you post a photo? That may help someone identify it.

I had that idea also and spoke to a machine shop about it. The only reservation the machine shop guy had was that he'd need a pattern or would have to cut free hand to a painted stencil or some such thing. I have wondered if my 4" angle grinder with a ferrous metal cut off blade would put "too much" (how much is too much) heat in the blade. Any guesses?

Shoup has lots of disk parts, I'd call them - nice to talk to them for odd stuff, but wow a nearly 3 1/2 inch shaft hole is going to be something to find, that must be one heavy breaking disk. And then hex too yet.

I contacted Shoup. No go. The guy I spoke to had never heard of one like that.

I would be happy to send a digital pic. However, I hate to sound dumb, but how do I post a picture? I see the place where it says "Optional Image URL", and I imagine it's like sending an attachment, but how do I attach the picture?

MOST of us have no idea how to post a picture or attachment, don't know how to email a picture either. Don't know what URL stands for either.

If you can make your picture file smaller than 100k or so:

Go to the 'Galleries' over on the left side of this page.

You can upload a pic to one of the appropriate galleries there. It is fairly straightforward.

Then just ask a question here & mention you have a pic posted over on a gallery. Someone will link it to your thread for you.

Yea, that was a lot of computerspeak for those who don't know.... But it helps a little for those that know a bit of computers. :)

You can't just place a picture in a message on this forum. You need to place the picture on the internet somewhere (like in the galleries), & then you can place a link in your message that will display the pic. So, it's kind of a long route to get there, but not that difficult after you done it once or twice. Real hard to explain in a message tho! :)

I have posted a picture of the disk, the nut, and a spacer in the "Help Identify" section of the gallery. Its is very imaginately titled "disk.jpg"!

third party image

There you go. Now you can get the link of the picture (not the web page that you see the picture, but the very specific web address of just the picture) and put that in the 'optional Image URL' as I did, & your pic will apear in the message.

Big sucker, that is one heck of a shaft hole!
