At the risk of being told to search the archives (I have tried that and it seems to be a less-than-fruitful task), I will ask if someone can point me to where to get plowshares for a JD 44H plow with old share number "Deere BH 218".

Also is there a Deere catalog of all the different plow moldboard combinations available?

I've had great luck finding plow shares at Balster's Implement website - www.balsters.net. I think the direct link is>Link

They have tons of old plow shares that I haven't been able to find anywhere else. In fact, I just checked there website and they have your 218 plow shares. There number is (800) 621-3838.

New shares, moldboards and landslides are still available from the only original equipment manufacture that I know exist. I have purchased from them and the quality is excellent. They are very independent, slow to respond. So don't get in a hurry. They have 2 share numbers available for the 44 plow 14in. 1 moldboard number. Originally there were many different share and moldboard numbers available from Deere. The name of the company is Crescent Forge And Shovel Canton, Illinois (Office). The foundry is in Havana, Illinois. their Fax number is 309-543-3546. Their phone number is 309-543-3348. I have found them to be honest and very reasonable.I think the reason for the slow turnaround is they combine orders before they start to manufacture. I hope this helps you out. I am not sure of the numbers anymore but I had a 44H and the shares were no longer avaible, mine was the mid frame size that can be adjusted for either 12" or 14" cut with the same bottom, I asked the dealer to get me either the 12" or 14" as I could have used either, this was about 10 year ago, and they sent me 10" shares as that was all they had left and were just too short foe my bottoms. Where they say search the archives it would be to find this that has been posted many a time. Farmer Browns Plow Shop in Short Tract, NY near Hunt, NY at 586-567-8158 or Link I have not used either and if it dosen't work go back and do the search for Farmer Browns Plow Shop as I may have mistyped the address

I'm not sure of the part numbers, but if you want the old style re-sharpenable shares (with the tooth on the front) thay are about $100 a piece. Throw away shares are cheap ($15 ?!), but they seem to wear out right away. Check with your local JD dealer.

I would assume the parts catalog you found referenced online is PC402(01MAY59). In addition, Operator's Manual is OMA1352. These can be ordered from Deere at 1 800 522-7448 with credit card in hand.

If you have a 50 tractor, that plow should be a wonderful match for it.

If they tell you to search the archives, I think they are defeating the purpose of the forums. If they are so good at finding things in the archives they should cut and paste it into a new posting for you. IMHO because every new posting gets at least one new opinion to wade in on the topic and that is why I, for one, read these forums.

There is actually two plow bottom parts books. The one you want has all the old syracuse and john deere bottoms. The other book has the high speed bottoms (HS) and the new universal (NU) bottoms as well as the metric NU bottoms. I don't have the parts catalog numbers here at work.

Duh! If I would apply my thinking cap I would find some of these things on my own, sorry. I just looked at JD Tech Pubs website and found 2 Parts Catalogs of plow bottoms.

Hanover Implement in Hanover In. 812-866-2091. Ask for Don. Has lots of moldboard plow parts. Or Tractor Supply in Shelbyville, Ky. 502-647-4605. That's where I get mine
