Could someone fill me in on the different series of tractors in which there are several similarities to each other.. My thought is,as I scan the discussions, I would have a better idea of which subjects might pretain to my MT series tractor. This might save me from asking a redundant question that has already been asked.

THANX MUCH....

The 2 cylinder Dubuque tractors were M, MT 40, 420,430,435,440. All except 435 came in wheel and crawler versions. The 435 was a 430W with a Detroit 2-53 diesel eingine. The 440 was an industrial tractor. I stand corrected on this, but I think it is right. The 420 came in three phases. The first was basically an upgraded 40 which included a water pump, 5 more HP from a larger bore and on the crawler heavier track frames. Phase 2 changes included, different starter mount, two color paint, different centerframe housing which had two mounting points for the crawler side plates, and the option of a directional reverser, 5 speed transmission, and live PTO(?). Phase three has slanted steering wheels like the 430. The sheet metal on the 430 was very different.

The best info on the "M" through 440 is the book "Little Giants" by J.R.Hobbs of Green magazine fame. www.greenmagazineonline.com
