Finding bad bearing ,Removing first reduction gear

Still havnt found a bad bearing.The spider gears seem to be lose is that anything to look at.How do you get the first reduction gear off.Should i use a little heat and any kind of 3 jaw puller.

The last reduction gear I helped pulled made me nervous as H*&^% lol but heres how it came off. A good heavy 3 jaw puller was pulled down tight, and the the gear heated around its shaft area nice n slow n even as possible. Then, the gear puller kept getting tightened up and the end of it shocked pretty heavy with a large hammer, then more heat around the gear and more tension and more hammer shocking, suddenly, she popped free and my nerves settles some lol. I think its best to use a combination of heat and force PLUS that good hammer shocking and go slowwwww w and not be in too big a hurry. Good Luck n be carefulllll lllll ll Ol John T Nordhoff

36 A, those differential pinion gears [spider gears] having a little extra play in them is about normal on an old un-styled "A"...To get the 1st reduction gear off you will probably need a gear puller [I use a big 3 jaw in the open gear holes] then apply enough heat to expand the gear hub a little. I have had some of those gears come right off & on others I have needed enough heat to dis-color the gear hub & soften the bearings. It usually takes a good pull with a gear puller, some heat, & sometimes & good solid swat on the end of the gear puller with a BIG hammer.....
