I'm 99% sure it will physically bolt up to the bracket with the three holes, but I'm not sure of the exterior dimensions and if it will clear the crankcase cover or anything else that is in the way. They might be exactly the same size, but I'm not sure. Believe it or not, even the gear reduction starter used on the 8000 Deere tractors will bolt up and work on my "G". I had to use one until I found a "G" starter for it. You gotta love JD interchangeability.

The late model starters will not always work on the B's.. the 3 holes are the same.. but they are in a different location and the offset of solinoid hits and it will not mount.. I don't remember what the pullers are using on the B's.. I think it was off a Cummins???? The holes will be the same.. but the starter button might be in the wrong place for you B... JDGnut

Hey JDGnut, we've got a 300-horsepower 8520 here now. Ran it myself just a few days after re-calibrating the dyno. It's a horse. The other two are running in that 285-290 range. We've got three of them here now - the 300 HP one came from the local Case-IH dealership. Looks like the Case-IH boys played with it a little bit, and then sold it through a dealer. I found controllers not plugged in completely, a non-factory pipe plug in the intake manifold (I just hope the pulled the manifold before drilling the hole), the side console cover not installed correct and so forth. Apparently the three little plastic rivets were a little too complicated for those guys to figure out. They just jammed them in the holes and didn't even push the centers in, lol.
