I have a JD 2840.Lost power steering and hydraulics. Filter and oil have been changed no help. Any ideas or diagrams could help. Not real good on the system need specifics on how it works and what to look at. Thanks

You mentioned changing the filter and oil. Did you check the transmission sump screen to see if it is plugged? If it is, oil can't get to the tranny pump which is the first step in the system. If the break pads fail, the material will quickly cover the sump screen and you lose all hydraulics, which is exactly what you're describing. I'd recommend draining the oil and pulling the screen before anything else. If you're not that familiar with the hydraulic system, buy or borrow a service manual before attempting any repair or diagnosis - high pressure hydraulic oil is not something to fool with.
