Find your self a good (maybe older) truck mechanic that's worked on two-stroke Detroits. They are (were?) a very common engine. The two cylinder is not much different from a 4, 6, or 8 cylinder. 2-53 is a pretty simple engine. Bigest fear we had at the dealship when we had to work on one was a run-away engine. That's why the engine has a normal shut-off and also an emergency air-choke shutoff. About the only special tool needed to work on that engine is the rack adjustment gauge that matches your injectors. Think I still have a pile of them in my toolbox.
