My crawler has stuck tracks. Drug it 200' and they still would not roll (the engine is not in it). The trans. IS in neutral. The unit has been sitting for quite awhile. Where do I start looking? Not to slight anyone else but I would especially appreciate hearing from JDEMARIS on this one. I'm sure you've had to resolve this problem before somewhere along your 30+ years as a JD mechanic.

I don't consider myself an expert on 2010 crawler drivetrains. That because most, if not all that I worked on had the HL-R transmssion - basically the same as used in the later 450 crawler. We had very little trouble with them as compared to 1010s and 350s the tended to self-destruct when used hard. I had to do a lot of the John Deere HL-R lawsuit updates to the shift valves, but that's about it. If I was working on it, I'd try to determine if the steering clutches are stuck on both sides. You have two transmissons I assume. The collar-shift range transmission, and the hydraulic transmission with High, Low, and Reverse. Make sure your collar shift part is either in neutral (if it has one, was part of the law-suit update) or at least, put it into the highest gear. If you can't tow the machine, I'd split or loosen the tracks and see if it's the tracks that are rusted fast, or the final drive that doesn't want to turn. With a loose track you can probably put a pry-bar against the sprocket and see if you can rock it inside the tracks. If both finals are locked up (for whatever reason) it won't want to budge. Next possible step? I simply don't remember (been 15 years since I worked on a 2010 final), but on the 450 you can pull top pinon shaft out of each final drive from the outside. I don't remember if you can do so on the 2010. If you can, it will unhook the steering clutch from the bull gear, sprocket, and track. Perhaps someone else on the forum has worked on one recently.
