Would a none running(possiblely stuck)420V, all original be worth $3,000? Missing the serial no. tag.

If you can back trace to serial number off the block, try quietly looking for another 420V with your serial number at shows/auctions. Not very many to look for. Plenty of 320/330/420V/430V etc out there built from parts with a stolen serial number plate attached.

Jimbo,

There were 86 420V's built during the total production run of the 420 (Phase I, II, and III). However, w/o a tag how can you be sure what you have?

If the 420 has the original motor you can use the motor number to find the Serial number thru the JD Archives. The number is located on the right side of the motor on the governor mounting casting.

JDAOS, the 420V would be a very desireable tractor. The missing serial tag hurts the value to serious collectors tho. Also the replacement tags from Deere are nowhere like the originals.

Any guess at the value w/o the sn tag?

Have an opportunity to purchase this tractor but don't want to get beat up too bad on it. It would be a fairly easy restoration, just wish it had a tag!!! Jimbo

I have never owned a (V) but have restored several of the (T) and (W) models. After a nice restoration, they have sold from $5500 to $7500. I don't have the production numbers on a (V) but suspect it is more rare that the (W) and (T) Maybe someone else will post with the production numbers. I would say that to a serious collector, the missing tag would cut the value almost in half. Or some won't even buy a nice restored one with the tag missing. Of course if you are going to keep it to use, it will not make any difference about the tag. One alternative would be to find an original tag at a salvage yard, but I bet that would be near impossible on the (V)
