Hey Guys,

I was reading a post and you guys suggested 2 cyl mixture for our tractors rather than marvel mystery oil because marvel settles.

Can someone please make a couple of brand recommendations and how much would you add [ounces] with 5 gallons of gas? Does the time of year matter?

I have Stihl and Echo products, thus these types of 3 cyl mixtures.

Thank you in advance...Pray for our troops and leaders.

tom

What is the application and what is trying to be gained by adding "snake oil" to the fuel or lube oil?

G taylor
I believe they are talking about 2cycle oil and not snake oil. I think snake oil has been banned in the states for a while now-

Tom, the brand really doesn't matter & the type probably doesn't either. If possible use the non oil injection type as it is blended to stay suspended in the fuel & not settle out.
~The amount would vary by the actual oil content in the can. some of that 2-cycle oil is really concentrated & others have a lot of carrier so the container is larger.
~I don’t ever actually measure it out but just add a little to each tank full of fuel. If you are looking for a more scientific approach probably somewhere around ½ to 1 once per gallon of fuel give or take a little depending on the can concentration.

OMC products work fine (outboard motor).
50:1 mix is 16 oz. in 6 gal.
100:1 mix is 8 oz. in 6 gal.
160:1 mix is 8 oz. in 20gal. is what clooney suggested. No smoke from this mixture. The other two mixes will have some smoke. The OMC mix will always stay in suspended solution. I will try the 100:1 mix this spring in my 36 B. The mistery oil will free sticking lifters in cars-been their.

Hey Joe, I also have good luck with any of the Outboard 2 Cycle Oils like OMC (Thats Johnson or Evinrude right???) or Mercury Quicksilver the low ash TCW 3 rated stuff and it sure seems to never settle out like Marvel did. I only use Marvel now in my oil to help with upper cylinder lube, it settled in my sediment bowl and fouled plugs when I tried it in my gas. It (the OMC and Mercury water cooled types) is more expensive than generic air cooled rated oils but seems to work fine. However, from your chart it looks like I could richen up my mixture (small 1/2 pint can to 10 gal) a bit as its never caused any smoke whatsoever. Ol John T

OK, John on the OMC Evinrude is my brand. The Marvel container now plastic has NO directions for usage. So I gave Marvel a call and never got an answer other than one qt was added with the regular oil change by the person on the phone and run 3000 miles. A close frind who been in the back room for 30 yrs states that he will use one qt as above but, drains the oil out after 300 miles. That was my question as how long I could run Marvel? I have added up to a pint in the oil and run 3000 miles. Have placed small amounts in the car gas-could tell no change. Good to use in the oil when selling.

Hey Tom, I sort of got in the habit of adding one of those small cans I think 1/2 pint ???? when I filled with approx 10 gal of gas. I use whatever brand I have handy, but believe the TC W 3 types for use in outboard marine engines are low ash content and seem to work fine. God Bless the USA and pray for our troops.
