You've got a good deal on your tractor. This tractor only has one draw back. Check the name plate on the fuel injection pump, if it is labeled Roosa Master the small shaft that connects to the throttle linking has a rack on the inside of the pump that wears out and strips. Once this happens the engine will only run at idle, the shaft may be turned to an unworn section and return the pump to normal function, but after you've done this 3 times, the only remedy is to order an update kit from JD that cost about $1600.00

R:

Whoa !!!!! !!!!!

He's talking about a 1972, 3 cylinder 820. The one that is slightly smaller than the 1020. Guessing they were 30 hp ?

I think you're right,Frank, his 820 should like a lot like the tractor in this picture.

If so, it's a built in the Mannheim, Germany plant Deere acquired from Lanz - then sent some US designs there. It's basically the same as the American cousin 1020, although it likely has some Bosch parts; and as noted is slightly smaller. Joel, if you dig some, and make sure you're NOT getting the stuff for the 50's vintage big 2 cylinder that shares the same model number - you should be able to get an owners and service manual for it from JD.

My book says 31hp at the PTO. If that hour meter is accurate, and with all the implements you got in the deal -- I think you've won the Deal of the Month award here. Congrats! You should like that tractor!

Steve, that is the exact looking tractor that Joel purchased. It is truly a buy of the month. It is original hours. Joel is now the second owner. I logged 4 hours on it yesterday mowing a field. I was looking for info on the web but all I was getting were old pics. Thanks.

820 JD; You have a very fine mid range beast there. Put me on the notice list for 3rd owner.
3 cylinder, 152 CID Diesel, xmsn 8F - 4R and
weighing 4060 lbs. On second thought I probably
couldn't be the third owner because then like you
I would likely be the final owner. Enjoy your good fortune with all those implements also.
