Brandyn, if the shift lever moves out of gear your problem is with the actual gear moving on the sliding gear shaft. If the shift lever doesn't move your problem is with the hi-low under drive disconnecting. In the first case [the lever moving] it could be worn or weak shifter detents, twisted sliding gear shaft, worn gears, or bad trans bearings. Usually on the hi-low becoming disengaged it's worn trans bearings, or worn input shaft bearings.
~About all you can do is pull the trans top cover & take a look, then reach in & move the shafts around to see if there are worn bearings.
~We can't give you the details on repairing your trans until you identify the cause of your problems & tell us what you find. ~Probably the place to start is to get a repair manual & read the trans section. ~You might want to pull the trans top cover & look & feel around in there, pay attention to the shaft play, the detent pressure & other wear you might find...

Brandyn,

First thing to check is the gear sliders and if they are snapping into position when you move to the appropriate gears. If that is not your case then it is going to be a job of locating what ever is the culprite. In my 46 B I had several gears and bearings that was my cause.

Hope this helps

Sam
