I thank all you guys for the sound advice. I tried another set of injectors. I didn't count but I'm sure I retimed the injector pump 10 different ways and the tractor behaves exactly the same way. Starts hard smokes so much it burns your eyes. Should I go into the cam shaft timing or am I wat out in left field? I'm stuck!

John:

Yes, at this point if you have any doubt at all as to valve timing, you 'd better check it again. That would very much explain your symptoms.

When you overhauled engine did you measure taper or out of round as well as end gap on rings? are you positive that the block and pistons weren't oversize and you put in standard rings? You are putting a lot of blow by in the pony. I have seen several of these old tractors in horrible condition(engine wise) start and run fairly well.I overhauled an 80 recently that started good sounded good but was putting pressure in pony upon disassembling one half of one piston was in the oil pan and only one ring between two pistons was unbroken.
