My john deere manual for a 60 is 100 foot lbs, The 60 and the A are the same engine per hear say. Maybe some of the A guys will correct me if I am wrong.. Good luck Ben

No correction, Ben, you are right on the money. I called the dealer, he had to look it up. In the meantime I 'decided' on 100 ft/lbs anyway as the bolt/nut could stand that much easy. He called back and said 100 ft/lbs for a 1943 A.
