I have a 49 B That has a loose flywheel, The Tin Nut actually came of the crank and fell on the ground. The nut is in horrible shape Age has taken its tool on it, I will buy a new OEM nut and put it back together, but i Need to Know how tight to tighten the 2 cross bolts on the Flywheel????? ? and the crank shaft nut. My I&T Manual does not say anything on it Can Someone help me out here. Thanks Very much Jaime

Call 1-800-522-7448 and get the operators, service and parts CD from Mother Deere. The parts CD is so you can cross refernce identical parts from your "A" from other "A" vintages or other two cylinder models. You need a torque wrench to at least 300 ft lbs, a crows foot to offset the wrench. Use the crow's foot at 90 degrees from the wrench beam and it won't affect the torque valve. New grade eight 3/4 bolts, new tall nuts, new hardened washers and high pressure camshaft assembly lube. Torque bolts to 300ft lbs after lubing the threads and washers. Don't waste your time with old bolts and by guess and by golly on a breaker bar. Torque should be checked as a preventative measure, not after a knocking sound is heard. That's why there are so many messed up cranks/flywheels. If this doesn't hold it's taper-loc time.

A $700.00 plus shipping aftermarket flywheel clamp conversion to a locking collet style. Will hold onto splines too far gone for a ordinary good used flywheel.

get some blue chalk for chalk for chalk lines and put a good coat of it on the crank and flywheel hub and torque it down. Taper loc's for a's and b's are a waste of your money
