Hydraulic pump out on John Deere 1010 RS S/N 55436

A freind of mine called me at supper tonight wanting help with his JD 1010RS. He said the front and rear and power steering hydraulics are out. He and his son were using the box blade last weekend when it quit. He told me he has accessed the pump, unbolted it and found the spline gear stripped. He's afraid to remove anymore until he gets advise and support. He can't afford to swap it in on something else so he wants me to help him find parts (used ...he's 66, retired and money IS a problem). I ask if he had a manual on it. He doesn't. Looks like we'll have to get that 1st. I'm guessing an IT manual. Anyone with experience with simular situation please give advice. He told me his dad owned this tractor before him.
