Saturday I took a look at a 4440 that has 8150 hours on it. The AC works, Heat, Left and Right windshield. A few lights work, but those are easy to fix. The tires are good. All decals are there, muffler, air filter. The oil is new, and new fuel filters. Now inside the cab beside the AC and what not. The oil pressure, voltage and I think maybe one other is not working. The "consoles" frame, is also cracked. Other than this the hydraulics look like they were rarely used. The original paint is still there, and no scratches. The pto looks hardly used, still original paint on it. The 1000 rpm still has the cover on it. The tractor has 5 wheel weights, and a bracket on the front for weights. The engine is newly painted, but there is no leaks and appears to have been used after being painted. The rear hasn't been newly painted but factory paint looks like its still on there. The tractor runs extremely nice, and all gears work. Started up in a couple seconds and purred. No visible leaks at all. Now with all this said, they are asking 22900. Is this a good price for a tractor with 8150 hours on it, in mint condition, minus a few minor things?

Thanks!

Jeff

Where do you live? Also is that 4440's tach true, as far as the cable not going bad. I know out west some go bad, and they just keep going so some of those are over 10,000 hours when they say 6000 or so.

Thanks!

Jeff

I'm in ohio,I will personally guarantee the hours,
I'm the only one who has serviced it since new.
I have the record of every oil change and service
since new.It has only pulled a drill or planter,
pulled wagons etc since new.

Is the 29500 you mentioned what you are asking. Or is that what it was new? Because if all you pulled was planters and wagons which is not taxing on a machine, that would be a good tractor, considering its uses. Here id be using a 4440 for plowing, discing, and mowing, amongst other things. The 4230 we have does the baleing, or will be (cuts atm too), and it would do other misc things. Our other two do the tedding and raking (ford 6700 and 3010). Also is that 4440 of your 4wd? Front fenders sounds like 4wd, and is that reliable? Was told 4wd in the 4440's back then weren't as good, and diminish value? Anyways, thanks.

It depends on what you need it for - around here that is a pretty small tractor.

I recently saw a very nice one sell with a nice loader for $17,500.

I wouldn't pay any more than that for it. The 40 series is getitng long in the tooth. Older than some of the two cylinders when that collecting frenzy hit in the early 80's. 6030's go dirt cheap and are indistructable if kept at 175 pto HP. Better than overfueling a 4440. Would be going one series older and dropping the Sound Guard Body however.

THAT IS A GOOD PRICE FOR THAT TRACTOR. I JUST BOUGHT ONE AND I PAID 23,500 FOR IT. THEY ARE A GOOD TRACTOR 125 HP OR MORE YOU CAN SET THE PUMP FOR MORE HP. THE MOTOR IS 10,000 HOUR OR MORE ON IT BEFORE A OVERHAUL. THE BEST MOTOR THAT JOHN DEERE HAS MADE.THEY ALSO USED IT IN THE COMBINES.IT IS A GOOD DEAL IN MY BOOK. GO FOR IT.

What if I got them to go for 20,000. I agree it isn't worth 22900. Supposedly the folks that are selling this, wanted 26000, and the dealership negotiated. What I am going to do is see if they would take 20000, and if so, they might get a sale. Because the other closest 4440 to me, that I know if is presque Isle ME, and that one if still there, is 18,5000 with 6800 hrs and 4WD. These 4440's seem hard to find..

Thanks,

Jeff
