I have the bearing cover cap off and nut off. does the bearing come off with the cover or do I somehow get the bearing off first. I pry on the cover but bearing doesn't budge. any help would be deeply appreciated

Jim, it's been a while since I have had a “G” apart but if I remember correctly there is a snap ring behind that outer bearing to keep the input shaft from sliding in. You will have to get that bearing loose on the input shaft so the cover can slide off with the bearing still in it. If the input shaft has been spinning in the bearing inner race [was the nut loose?], you might need heat to get it free.

the cover should come off leaving the bearing an race intact, I imagine its sticking on the race, I guess I would wedge small pry bar between cover and tractor, then hammer the bearing shaft in, maybe it will shock loose,Or maybe G-Man has a wild idea;;;;Bill
