Whats the secret/secrets to remove the head on a model B??
I have the rocker arms off, pushrods removed, and the 7 nuts that hold the head on removed. Is there something I hav'nt done?? She won't budge. Do the 2 nuts holding the water pipe also need to be removed??
Need some info on how to get this thing loose, don,t know how much to pound or pry or where to pound or pry.
Would appreciate some input from someone who's already done this struggle.
Thanks much, Jim H.

Jim,
Not sure if this is the best way but I'll tell you how I got the one off my '49. You will need to take off the lower water pipe to get enough clearance to pull it out but the nuts aren't holding anything but the pipe. Get a sturdy RUBBER Mallet and give it some good whacks, that should loosen things up a bit. Then get a large screwdriver or flat bar with a thin blade and drive it into the gasket (you have to replace that anyway). Go easy and be patient because you don't want to mar the gasket surface. Work it all around until you get it to move some. Then work the head back and forth and up and down and with some prying it should come off. Helps if you have 2 people. Post back if you still have trouble. Good luck.

Thanks Jeff I'll give it a try. I'm always lery of banging away on something. In the past I,ve gotten myself in trouble with that method. I've since learned to ask. Thanks again for the quick advice. Jim H.
