Handsome Jim hit it on the head. The 630 has the same engine as the 620 which was rated at 48 Belt HP. Pounds pulled at Neb tests penciled out so that it could be sold as a full 4 plow tractor. Back in 1978, for 1 year the 630 was our only tractor. We had a 3010 and the 630 which we bought both in 1977 but couldn't get rit of the 3010 fast enought. We had a F 145 3-16" semi mounted plow, 10' wheel disc, 10' coil shank digger, and a JD 5' 127 rotory mower that we bought with the 3010. We have red clay hills. The 630 handled this stuff OK but there were places we were lugging the engine or down shifting. The next year we got our first 730D and used the same stuff with the 730D. No lugging of the engine or down shifting. We then put a beefed up JD 35 loader on the 630 and it has been our chore tractor since, picking up 1700# round bales from our 510 baler and plowing of snow. With the loader and a JD 115 rear blade, 6 wheel wts and fluid the 630 comes in at 11500# and we can still spin out in 2nd gear.

Joe, we had 620 which horse power wise was the same as a 630. The later years when I was helping Dad, it was pretty much relegated to lighter duty chores such as cultivating and planting. However in 1957 when it was brand new, it was the big boy in the shed and did the heavy work. It pulled 3-14" plows and a ten foot wheeled disc doing the tilage chores. Brush hog wise, it was in charge of a 5' two row pull type rotary mower. Some times when we were short a tractor we'd pull a 6' feild cultivator. I remember one day when we had alot of things going on, Dad had me pull the 24' Crustbuster getting the seed bed ready for soybeans. I didn't sock it in very deep though so we chugged right along in 3rd gear. What you pull and how deep and how fast you pull it really depends on your particular conditions.HJ
