Does anyone know where to find (OUT OF ROUND TOLERANCES??) I'm trying to find out what is an acceptable "out of round tolerance for a 1952 model B with babbit connecting rod bearings."
The babbitt was completely wiped off of the number 2 connecting rod and the journal is a little dinged up. The engine was running fine before the bearing wipe-out.(OIL PUMP COUPLER BROKE)
Trying to determine if I should pull the crank and have it ground or reinstall some new babbited rods??
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks, Jim H.

I'm sure a lot of these cranks ran 1-2 thousands out of round...I would say much more and you'd start knocking or loose oil pressure. If the crank is still round you would use embry paper and work it down smooth. It's tricky removing the connecting rods from the rear but can be done. Be sure to pull your mag when turning over engine with your extremities involved. I believe you might work this out...I used a set of bent needle noze plier to pull the wrist pin keepers...however due to residue they may not just slip out, probably less time consuming to just pull the head and pistons.
