2010 stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear

I'm fairly new to this so bear with me. My grandfather gave me his 2010 and it has served well over the last year. Yesterday, I was cutting along a creek bank with a sickle bar, and hit a small hidden stump causing the sickle bar to "give" a little bit. Of course, to get it perpendicular to the tractor I had back it against an immovable object - something I have done a couple of times in the past. After doing so, the 2010 seems to have lost all the gears - except 2nd or 3rd - it even lost "park" (the gear shift lever just moves freely). Any forward gear I put it in - the 2010 moves at the same speed.

Any suggestions or similar problems?

If the tractor is a syncro range (8) speed on the dash you might have gotten the gear shift out of the correct slot. This can happen if the gear shift has wear and groves worn in it. I have taken a tire tool and gotten back correct. You might take the linkage rod off where it goes into the transmission to check this. This has offten happened with a 3010 I once owned.

Thanks for the info - I looked at it and it seems that is part of the problem. I also found a broken cotter pin that connected shift levers - I replaced that and now everything is working fine. Thanks again for the info.
