on my tractor i just rebuilt a JD A i was putting the head back on and torqued all my head bolts to the right specs and when i got to the last one i was torque in it was stripped is this bad if it is only just one or should i pull the head off and fix it thanks

why can't you back the stud out and put another one in. I believe you could weld a nut on then let cool and back the stud out. Use two nuts locked off to put the stud back in. I suppose there is enough of the stud exposed to do that.

if the stud is long enough and there are enough threads left on it to hold a nut, you may try a thick washer to reposition the nut. (preferably hardened washher).

I know it's not what you want to hear, but the stud problem needs to be fixed. You don't want to chance blowing a head gasket.

It may cause your head to warp/ are get water into the engine and cause you some bigger problems,You may be able to retap the thread to a size smaller and put on a nut to match the thread,. My two cents, Good luck Ben
