Is white lead good to use for sealing push rod sleeves when installing them in the head. If not what is?
Thanks much,
John

I think Deere calls for white lead to be used. I am sure there is some out there somewhere but I have never seen it for sale. Others in here may know of some. I used the liquid teflon pipe dope stuff and there is no water in the oil. Either I was lucky or it works also. Might even get by with locktite. I normally use the red stuff on freeze (excuse me, core) plugs to help seal them. Seems the only time they ever come out is when they shouldn't. It is a press fit and really shouldn't need much help.
