The pto on our 6030 will not disengage. Tried the adjustment on side of housing but makes no difference. Just aquired the tractor and have no history on use. Have a shop manual coming on the tractor. Just wondering if anyone knows about this situation or of anyone that has experience dealing with 6030 pto problems.
Thanks, Jim

If the linkage adjustment is correct, the pto brake is probably worn out. This usually comes from trying to stop a heavy pto driven piece of equipment with the pto brake instead of letting it coast to a stop. If it is the brake, it will require a trans. split to replace the pto brake. With the tractor turned off try hooking it to a piece of equipment and then start the tractor and see if the pto turns in the disengeged position. If it doesn't run then the pto is spinng from pto clutch drag and the brake is bad. If the implement does run then either the linkage is out of adjustment or there is a valve problem or the pto clutch is stuck or damaged.

Thanks for getting back, Brokenwrench. We did hook the tractor up to a large rotary mower and pto stills turns in the off position. When engaging pto, you can hear the mower speed up. From this position to off again, shaft seems to slow somewhat but remains constant. Any suggestions? Should I try mowing with the pto disengaged to apply a heavier load? Maybe this would unstick a stuck clutch.
Thanks, Jim
