my 3010 will not go into reverse, tried adjusting linkage but still no reverse, I opened the top cover and found the syncro clutchs to look like they are loose in the cage, is this normal, or should they be closely packed together? It seems to me that they should be tighter. I looked at a new set at the dealer and they did not seem any thicker. When it is shifted into reverse, it just grinds and may back up a few inches. Also if I split the cases, can it be done between the bell housing and trans. case? Or only between bell housing and motor? (diesel motor)
Thanks,
Jim

After tearing it down, I found not only the syncro discs to be worn out, but the slider gear and the syncro disc gear were worn.

You probably need the synchronizer itself, not the clutches. Might as well go through all of them while you are in there as well as a pto shift pin. Takes a double split to do it.

Ok, I think I will tear into it, I got a book today and set all the adjustments per JD, still no reverse, maybe when I get it apart I will see the problem.
Where is the PTO shift pin, on the PTO clutch?
