I looked at an early 3010 row crop, narrow front that has 36" rubber on the rear and 14" rubber on the front. It does appear to have JD wheels just haven't seen this size on a 3010. Do you think they would be original? Has anyone else seen one with these wheels. It also has the 3rd reverse which I was told was a eliminated because it was too fast.

I've seen many early 3010s with 36" rears, I was sort of under the impression that was the std size, don't know about the 14" fronts-guess I never looked, but that's about the same time a lot of cars used 14" tires, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were original. We bought a new JD #953 running gear about that time & it had 14" wheels(which have long since been replaced with 15" wheels). The three reverse setup was used on at least all the 3010s & 4010s- is real handy & hard for me to think it would be dangerous, but that was the stated reason for blocking it off on the later tractors. My 4620 dosen't have it, but wish it did. Maybe some day I'll cut the other notch in the shifter quradrant(spell it) so I'll HAVE the third rev,as that's all it would take to do it.

My Cousin's old 4020-D had the third reverse. Good hacksaw blade is all it takes! Gears are all inside the tranny already. Dad's 4010-D was sure a handy chore tractor with that fast reverse! I spent a LOT of time running in that third range with 4th, 7th and #3 rev.

Third reverse was on the 3010 until the tractor was discontinued and replaced with the 3020. What does the SN tag say for a serial number? It should read something like T11T321xxR. I am curious as to what number is listed. In my example >>>11<<< indicated a row crop 3010. If this tractor says >>>14<<< instead, there might be a good reason for it having 36" tires.

The serial number is 11T114XX.
I checked and found out that 14" front tires
are hard to come by. Any idea what the JD 36"
wheels and tires would be off of? Probably
something from the 50's I would guess.

It was my thought that perhaps what you had was a row crop utility, but the 11T certainly makes it a row crop. {erhaps the 36"ers are from a 50/520/530. Are there CASTING numbers on the wheel centers?

They are JD rims. They did have the JD part number
cast in although I don't have that number. They were 12" double bevel rims I think. The left rim was pretty rusty. It looked like they had fluid only on the left side.
