My 4010 diesel is not running right. I did fieldwork with it one day and it was fine, the next day I went out to start it and it started but hardly and it doesn't idle up. Even with the throttle control all the way up it will run for a bit and then die. Then if I try to start again it will not fire for a while. After a while it will do the same thing again.

Check your return line for a restriction. I have seen those leaf cutter bees pack a tank vent line solid. I learned thisun the hard way after pulling the inj pump and having it checked out. Of course you could be having pump problems but check all the basics first.

Change your fuel filters first then if it still acts the same take the fuel injector return line off the injector pump and look for little pieces of rubber in it you may want to take the elbo out of the pump also. The rubber will also collect around the banjo bolts on top of the first injector. The rubber is part of the governor in the injector pump and the pump will need to be rebuilt. You can also start the engine with the return line off to see if it runs better. The restricted return flow won't alow the governor to open up.

Try changing the fuel filters and see what happens.
