I took The governor off my B to replace the gasket.Looking at the governor I see that the thrust bearing balls are gone. The governor does work good. The main bearings seem tight and no noise.Should I get a new bearing and sleeve? Are there repair manuals availible or should I get roberts carb video? I would also like to know if there is any one in Mass or CT. Who repairs these governors.

John, you say.."took The governor off my B to replace the gasket. Looking at the governor I see that the thrust bearing balls are gone"...>>> Answ, that's not good.. Those balls in the thrust bearing keep the sleeve from wearing the fork out & keep the sleeve from wearing the weight levers out.. You really should replace that thrust bearing.. The sleeve might still be ok you will have to look it over when you remove it to replace the bearing.. Look closely at the weight levers also.. You can probably get by with an I&T manual on that governor as there isn't much to those governors..

~I can't comment on the Roberts governor video as I haven't ever seen it but if it's like other Roberts products it probably isn't too bad..

The hardest part you are going to have is getting the gear off the governor shaft if you don't have an arbor press & gear/bearing separator.. Once apart look for governor case bearing bore wear where the R/H big bearing rides in the bore..
